dc.description.abstract | CPT 111 Introduction to Computer Science is a 2- credit unit course for students studying towards acquiring a Bachelor of Science in any field. The course is divided into 6 modules and 15 study units. It will first introduce the basic computing terms and the modern history of electronic computers. Next, computer hardware and software are treated in detail. Thereafter, the manner in which data are represented and manipulated in the computer are discussed. This is followed by an extensive discussion of the Von Neumann model of computation. Subsequently, an overview of programming languages is presented. Finally, the student is introduced to the Internet. | |
